I recently attended a parent-child cookery class, where we made stir fry and gyozas, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! The class lasted about two hours, which felt like the perfect amount of time for us to learn and have fun without feeling rushed. The instructor was wonderful—patient, engaging, and great with the kids. My child and I both enjoyed getting hands-on in the kitchen, and it was so rewarding to see our creations come together. The stir fry was delicious, and the gyozas turned out perfectly crispy. We left feeling proud of what we'd made, and my child was so excited to recreate the dishes at home! I highly recommend this class to any parent looking for a fun, interactive way to spend quality time with their child while learning valuable cooking skills. We'll definitely be back for more classes in the future! MindKindCBT2025-02-17Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had a lovely afternoon here with my daughter at the adult and child class. We both learnt new skills and Cat was engaging and knowledgable. The food was delicious and we would definitely like to do more of these classes! K S2025-02-13Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I've enjoyed many of Cat's Cookery lessons now, both adult only and adult and child classes. Cat is always welcoming and her enthusiasm and knowledge is clear. Cat and her teachers explain how the class will run and are patient while everyone completes the steps. So the classes are fun and the food we cook is always tasty! My family loved the Wagamama classic dishes I made in the last course I joined! Trishna Shah2025-02-08Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our daughter has attended Cat’s teens and tweens cooking class since she was 10 and has absolutely loved them and loves the adorable venue where they take place! Cat teaches them the most delicious recipes of foods from around the world and is such a patient and kind teacher! She also gives the kids such confidence to operate in a kitchen including learning proper chopping and cooking techniques and how to do everything in a safe way. It’s the weekly activity our daughter most looks forward to, and so do we as we all love eating what she brings home!! Thank you Cat for running such amazing cooking classes for young people to gain confidence and enjoy preparing delicious meals!! We love that our daughter now regularly cooks meals for our family with all the lovely recipes she learns from these weekly classes! ❤️ Wendy Parkinson2025-02-05Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thank you so much Cat and team for a fabulous pizza making party for Charlotte. All the girls had a brilliant time and very little pizza made it home to show the families as it was so tasty! This is the second birthday party we've done with you and they have both been brilliantly organised with attention to detail including snacks and drinks whilst the cooking is taking place. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for a friendly, fun and tasty birthday party! Thanks again. Wendy Ewa Voigt2025-02-02Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had fantastic experience with my kids at Totally Tangerine Cookery school! Everything has been so thoughtfully set up, with such a a detail. Cat made an extra effort to accommodate our cooking class during Christmas holidays. My girls loved making tacos and learning cutting techniques. We made them at home two weeks later and now salsa and guacamole are regulars in our home! I am definitely coming back! Thank you Cat! Lynsey Rowe2025-01-13Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My son and I had a lovely afternoon at the parent and child sushi making workshop. I thoroughly recommend it. Such a fun and unique way to spend a Saturday. Cat explains and demonstrates so well. We left the workshop having learnt a new skill and with bellies full of delicious ‘restaurant quality’ sushi (and loads more to take home for the family!) Extremely excellent value for money. I will definitely be signing up to more workshops in the future.

Founder of Totally Tangerine Cookery
Hi, I’m Catherine Hayes! I’m passionate about food, cooking, and nutrition—and I’m also a mum to two little people.
A few years ago, I left my career in events and marketing to pursue something I truly love, and I’ve never looked back (although I do still occasionally dabble in event projects!).
When my children started primary school, I was excited to see what they would learn about food. However, I soon realised that regular food education wasn’t always possible in schools for a variety of reasons.
This inspired me to take action, and in 2019, I founded my own cookery school to teach children how to prepare healthy, delicious meals from scratch. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we adapted by offering online classes, and in 2022, we reopened as a physical cooking school.
My mission has always been to pass on this essential life skill, empowering children and adults to make healthier food choices while having fun along the way.
Food has always been at the heart of my life. Growing up in a Filipino household, I was surrounded by my mother, grandmother, and aunties cooking from scratch. I’ll never forget the incredible smells, lively chatter, and laughter that filled our small kitchen.
Cooking has remained a source of joy, creativity, and connection for me ever since.
Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to refine my skills by learning from experts around the world, I love nothing more than creating fusion food with lots of bold flavours. I retrained and worked in restaurants and hotel kitchens whenever I could, constantly striving to elevate my craft.
